It's never too early to plan for the future!!

October:

  • Students in Honors math are recommended to take the PSAT/NMSQT.

January - February: 

  • Consider taking Honors or AP courses next year if you are presently getting a 90 or better in a particular subject.

May-June:

  • Plan a productive summer - consider summer courses, special academic or enrichment programs at local colleges, volunteer, or work.

July-August:

  • Consider visiting a few colleges to get a sense of what you may like and dislike.

What Can Parents Do:

  • Continue to monitor academic progress.
  • Continue to encourage your child to stay involved in activities and to develop leadership skills.
  • Assist your child with selecting courses for the following school year.
  • Start to explore and discuss college options.
  • Attend a college fair.
  • Talk to your children about their aptitudes, interests, and abilities.
  • Review your child's choices for their 11th grade academic program. Electives are important!
  • Help your child choose meaningful activities for the summer.
  • Update your Activities and Awards file.
  • Keep putting money into the college savings account. Attend financial aid night programs.
